There are so many places and things to see and do when on vacation in our area. Here we made a list of 10 of our favorite things to see and do for both adults and children, while enjoying your vacation.
The list is in no particular order.
There are five beautiful golf courses in our city. There are various levels of difficulty and the prices differ at each course. One of our favorite courses is at the refuge. You can access their website at http://www.refugecountryclub.com/ or http://www.emeraldcanyongolf.com/ Just to name two!
2. London Bridge
Boating and site seeing tours are available down at the bridge. You can rent paddle boats, boards or jet skis and even boats! There are many ways to explore the lake and have fun. You might just want to walk the path which takes you through Rotary Park. Beautiful picnic areas and playground equipment for the children. Play volleyball or basketball near the Bridge water channel. This historic bridge was bought and brought from London and rebuilt right here in Lake Havasu.
3. Balloon Festival
January hosts the annual balloon festival, a three day event with beautiful balloons of all shapes and sizes. the event also hosts many vendors who come from cross country to attend this event. You can take a morning balloon ride across the city. The evening balloon glow is a site to be seen with all the balloons lighting their fire at once.
4. Desert Hiking
Hiking Sara Park is one of our favorite things to do. You can mountain bike there or hike to the lake. There are many trails at all levels of difficulty. You can travel through Sara’s crack as long as it hasn’t been raining. You can also travel over the top and end at Lake Havasu. You might encounter big horn sheep along your journey or wild burros.
5. Boat Races on the Lake
People like to bring their big boats to the lake. We have many big boat manufacturers here in Lake Havasu City. The lake hosts many annual events, including the Desert Storm Poker Run and Street Party.
Annual Western Winter Blast Pyrotechnics Show is held in Lake Havasu every year in February. What a blast! There are places on the south side of the city and the rodeo grounds where you have an amazing view of the show.
7. Run to The Sun
40th Annual Relics & Rods Run to the Sun happens this October.
Thursday: Cruise Night @ 5-9pm
Friday & Saturday: Show & Shine @ 8am-4pm
Friday: Dinner & Dancing @ 5pm
Saturday: Ladies Fashion Show @ 10am
Sunday: Parade down Main @ 9am
The international jet ski races happen right here on Lake Havasu. The invitation-only IJSBA World Finals is the most venerable and prestigious single personal watercraft event in the world, and these very talented riders will be putting on a free public exhibition and display right at the London Bridge in the Bridgewater Channel! The best of the best will be showing off their freestyle moves – the most watched activity during the World Finals.
9. Skate Park
The skate park is located at Rotary Park. http://www.tinnellmemorialsportspark.com/ This is said to be ” a jewel in the desert”. A 40,000 square foot multi-use skate park. Come prepared with bikes, boards and helmets.
10. Exploring the Desert
http://www.arizonawatersports.com/offroad_rentals.htm You can rent a rzr side by side for fun in the dirt. There are miles of BLM trails surrounding the city. There are so many adventures awaiting you. What are you waiting for?
